For Christmas my mom recieved tickets to go to Longwood Gardens to see their Christmas display for the first time! If you know my mom, then you know that she loves flowers, christmas, and the outdoors. When she opened her gift she was over the moon and could not wait to go but little did we know that a wintery/rainy storm was coming. Despite the empending weather forecast, my mom and I made the choice that we were going to brave the elements. We put on our winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves and even brought our umbrellas to go on an adventure. When we arrived at Longwood my mom could not stop saying, "Oh my gosh!" "This is so beautiful!!" "The cold doesn't bother me." We first started off enjoying their outdoor displays. Because of the bad weather, the crowds were very minimal which in my opinion made the experience that much better. We were able to truly walk at our pace, stop and take in the beauty and snap a few pictures without people photobombing (worst fear as a photographer). There were giant snowflakes, a candy tunnel and beautifully decorated treehouses. After braving the elements, we snuck inside to the Peirce–du Pont House. As stepped inside we were welcomed by a tree that was placed right in the middle of the room decorated with old-fashioned ornaments that I remember my grandmother and us as kids having on her tree. Since being to Longwood Garden 3x myself, I was most excited to show my mom their grand conversatory. When we pulled the doors open we instantly felt the warmth of the greenhouse wipe away the chill from our noses and cheeks. We were instantly transported into a garden of Christmas exploding with cheer and color. If we could, I know my mom would have stayed for hours! Each room was craftfully designed to capture the spirit of Christmas with each adnored with its own tree and theme. The detail, craftsmanship, design and color that Longwood Gardens puts into their displays is breathtaking. Longwood Gardens is a place that I have visited many times and just not in the Winter! I love it in the Summer and can't wait to visit it in the Fall. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, please do!
