Being a photographer you never know where your journey might take you and the people you might meet. So far, my journey has included photographinig so many wonderful people and learning who I am as a photographer. Sometimes being a photographer can be a solo journey and discovering what you love about yourself and what things you enjoy most. Driving or walking around I always seem to have my photographer's lense on and always thinking, "oh that would be a great picture!" or "oh I really should have pulled over..." but in the hustle and bustle of every day life, sometimes those moments come and go and that inspiration will forever be inbedded in my mind.
Trying to grow my photography business has not always been easy but it has been worth it! I was and still am trying to think of ways to reach a great audience and that is when I decided to share with my school district that I started my own photography business. It did not take long for a colleague of mine to reach out wanting to collaborate. Leigh Ann, who is the owner of Journey Inward, reached to me?! I was thrilled and nervous. Leigh Ann also started her own business to bring people together to create a community of writers to share their thoughts, ideas and emotions. Knowing this I was so excited to get the ball rolling on our collaboration but where to start? Leigh Ann came to me wanting to do a writer's workshop that incorporated photography. I loved the idea! Since we are both teachers for the district we both knew we could execute this with ease since we wanted to do a summer workshop. We began brainstorming some ideas and met over our Spring Break. During our meeting we brainstormed our topics of what we will write about and how to guide our group to capture photos that inspire them, they say, "a picture is worth a 1000 words!" I have never felt more energized speaking with a fellow business owner about collaborating and knowing I am learning from her. Our ideas blossomed into this exciting workshop called, Every Picture Tells A Story. Throughout the summer we will be coming together four times to be inspired by what is around us, capturing that moment and then being guided down a path of writing!
